Study Geelong is a collaborative program with tertiary education institutions and secondary schools to build Geelong as an education destination of choice, to support students to connect with the local community and to leverage the Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR) market.
Our Study Geelong programs attract and support international students to have excellent experiences and create lifelong memories as they learn, live and explore in Geelong.

In 2019, there were more than 4,000 international students studying in Geelong, contributing $62.325m on top of course fees to the local visitor economy.
Ways we engage international students
- Promotion – Together with our partner education institutions, we promote Geelong globally as a destination of choice for international students.
- Study Geelong Ambassadors – Student ambassadors are the face of international education in Geelong. They help promote Geelong as a friendly place to learn, live and explore, through storytelling on social media and help strengthen relationships between international students, local businesses and the broader Geelong community.
- International Friends Program – This program provides a supportive platform for international students in Geelong, and local community members, to build connections, share interests and enjoy cross-cultural exchange.
- Student experiences – We help our international students make the most of studying, living and exploring the region through showing what our region has to offer and providing professional development and social experiences.
