We welcome the announcement by the State Government yesterday for a $143 million Business Support Package to help with the losses caused by the 5-day snap lockdown.

The package contains four initiatives targeted at businesses, including small and micro businesses. If you haven’t read about it, here’s a snapshot of what is included:

  • Business Costs Assistance Program
$2000 grants to employing and non-employing businesses in the tourism, events, hospitality, food wholesaling and selected retail industries with a payroll of up to $3 million.
    Total funding of $92 million.
  • Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund
$3000 per premises payments made to previous recipients of the first round of funding.
    Total funding of $24.9 million.
  • Victorian Accommodation Support Program
    Reimbursements for cancelled accommodation bookings.
    Total funding $16.2 million.
Tier 1: Funding of $2250 (ex GST) per Accommodation Premises experiencing 10 or fewer cancelled nights.
Tier 2: Funding of $4500 (ex GST) per Accommodation Premises with 11 or more cancelled nights.
  • Victorian Travel Voucher Scheme
10,000 x $200 vouchers added to the 40,000 vouchers that will be released for regional Victoria travel on 30 March.
    Total funding of $10 million.

Some programs are automatically provided to certain businesses, others will require an application. It’s important you head to Business Victoria website here, to read more details and register your interest in the relevant initiates.

With the first of the vaccines being rolled out in Australia this week, we’re hopeful that the control of outbreaks will have less impact on our industry in the coming months and we can remain safe and open.
