Confirmed changes to restrictions for regional Victoria

There were big changes announced by the Acting Premier yesterday which have now been confirmed to be going ahead at 11.59pm on Thursday, as planned.

For our Melbourne neighbours, full restrictions remain in place for the next seven days, with increased travel distance allowed for exercise and shopping to 10km.

While regional Victorians can travel for any reason – outside of Metro Melbourne – Mr Merlino indicated Melburnians would not be able to travel to regional Victoria for the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

Here’s what you will need to know for regional Victoria:

For our wider community, there are basic restrictions we must all adhere to:

Face coverings:

  • Must be worn indoors and outdoors except if at home, or if an exemption applies.

Private gatherings:

  • Not permitted. Intimate partner visits are allowed.

Public gatherings:

  • Not permitted (two people for exercise, or members of your household).

The five reasons to leave home will be removed and there will be no limit on the distance you can travel from home.

There were also further funding announcements made for businesses that can not operate during the next seven days. Read the details here.
