Following on from the success of the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines delivered for Team Tourism members last year, we’ve reached out to Archive Academy to deliver Level 2 for financial Team Tourism members*.

We’ve subsidised the cost of the course so you only have to contribute $50 per person – valued at $880!

Building on the introductory knowledge gained through WSET Level 1 Award in Wines, WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is offered as a 16-hour face-to-face course delivered over either 8 consecutive weeks (on a Monday or Tuesday evening) or 4 consecutive Saturdays and is the required precursor to all other higher levels of study with WSET.

This course is aimed at those seeking to expand their understanding of wine from a global perspective and learn more about international wine standards. WSET Level 2 Award in Wines will suit wine lovers, including wine industry professionals, who would like to deepen their knowledge, particularly of European wine.

 

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:

  • How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)
  • How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties:- Chardonnay
    – Pinot Grigio/Gris
    – Sauvignon Blanc
    – Riesling
    – Cabernet Sauvignon
    – Merlot
    – Pinot Noir
    – Syrah/Shiraz
  •  The style and quality of wines: made from 22 regionally important grape varieties produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
  • How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of: sparkling wines and fortified wines.
  • Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
  • Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
  • Principles of food and wine pairing

This course will be offered face-to-face in the classroom above Archive Wine Bar in Belmont. The opportunity to join live via videoconference (or catch up with recordings) will also be available for ultimate flexibility for busy industry professionals.

Course delivery:

Minimum of 28 hours of study time, including 17 guided learning hours of face-to-face classroom delivery (including exam).

Please note: No refunds will be issued after the start of this course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Archive Academy cancels.

There is a re-sit exam fee of $150 if a student does not attend the exam for any reason.
