The Victorian Training Awards recognise best practice in the vocational and education training (VET) sector and highlight leading examples of outstanding student-centric competency-based learning and organisational excellence across the state.
The Gordon is delighted to be acknowledged and recognised in these awards and is proud to announce it has been honoured with the most important accolade:
Large Training Provider of the Year Award
The Gordon was commended for offering a broad range of training products and services while consistently demonstrating excellence in all aspects of the provision and delivery of vocational education and training.
“This amazing result has been achieved by our staff and teachers’ dedication and steadfast commitment to producing industry-ready graduates. In doing so, our staff and teachers work tirelessly in delivering quality training for our students, industry partners and employers, and provide positive, engaging experiences for all who attend our long-standing, community-focussed institution,” The Gordon CEO, Lisa Line.
Vocational Student of the Year
Louise Nicholas has been awarded the Vocational Student of the Year 2017.
The Gordon is also delighted to announce that graduate Louise Nicholas has been awarded the Vocational Student of the Year 2017.
Louise has been recognised for her outstanding achievements in the AHC51116 Diploma of Conservation and Land Management, which she completed in 2016.
After being made redundant and reconsidering her future, Louise decided to enrol at The Gordon, and through her course, was able to progress her ambitions and gain relevant, practical skills. Now Louise spends her working days as a full-time Leading Hand of a Natural Resource Management Crew at Melbourne Water.
“Not only is this award affirmation of Louise’s hard work, passion and achievements, it also illustrates that behind each student is the support and expertise that both enables, and encourages, students to excel.”
“These awards acknowledge our significant contribution to a dynamic, responsive and future-facing workforce in Greater Geelong and the broader region, and are a tribute to our priority; give students real skills, real experience, and real outcomes.”
“We’re proud to be the top achiever in these categories and would like to thank students, staff, teachers, partners, and industry alike for their ongoing support.”
Ms Line also said, “In conjunction with our 130 year anniversary, these awards are a fitting reminder of our enduring presence in the community, as we continue to support individuals and businesses realise their potential.”
Congratulations to The Gordon, a great leader of education in Geelong!
