Last week the TGGB team ditched the office for a few hours to lend a hand to a local initiative that many of you may already know – the mighty Geelong Mums.
Established by a group of five local mums in 2013, they’re a volunteer organisation dedicated to rehoming pre-loved nursery and children’s goods to support Victorian families in need.
Our visit was organised by the team at Business Events Geelong, who are building a relationship with Geelong Mums to encourage businesses attending conferences in the region to incorporate donations and volunteer work into their programs.
During our visit, we prepared care packages, built and checked prams and carefully sorted donations. Hearing some of the heartbreaking stories we couldn’t help but be encouraged that such a wonderful organisation is operating right here in our region. They have an incredible eye for detail, strong links with nurses and social workers and an understanding that there’s so much more to do. All powered by a huge team of wonderful volunteers.
If you’re keen to get involved – whether by volunteering time or donating goods – please get in touch with the guys at Geelong Mums!
