OVERVIEW

If you’re looking to get started in the hospitality industry or are a business looking to upskill current or potential workers with helpful kitchen skills, check out this must-have Safe Food Handling Course (SITXFSA001).

Anyone handling, preparing or serving food as part of their job must be trained in food safety. This skill-set will ensure you are handling food appropriately to help keep customers safe from food safety incidents.

This course is delivered by The Gordon in partnership with Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine, and supported by the Victorian Government.

Thanks to the Victorian Government this course is heavily subsidised and all that’s needed from you is a $50 student enrolment fee.

How do I enrol?
Simply click ‘register’, read the short guide on how to enrol, fill out your details and someone from the Gordon will be in touch within a few business days.

When do I start?

After you click ‘register’, someone from our team will be in touch to connect you with the Gordon to finalise your enrolment. 

When that’s all sorted, you can start as soon as you’re ready and complete the online course at your own pace and at a time that suits you. 

When you’ve completed the online components, the Gordon will work with you to schedule a time for your practical assessment. 

The entire course needs to be completed by 30 June 2022. 

Is this course free?

The course is heavily subsided by Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine thanks to Victorian Government funding, so all you need to cover is a $50.00 student enrolment fee! 

How long does the course take?

The course is delivered online with a face to face component for assessment.

The program is super easy to follow with step-by-step instructions (and online quizzes) and should only take up to 8 hours to complete the accredited unit (SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety) and micros units.

A practical task and assessment will take place on-campus to assess students’ hygiene practices, sandwich making and safe food handling and packaging skills.

Please allow up to two business days for your enrolment to be processed and for your course to begin.

It must be completed by 30 June 2022.
