McGlashan’s Wallington Estate

Abalone to award-winning wines

A love for a fertile Bellarine property shifted Jan and Russell McGlashan’s focus from abalone diving to first-time vineyard owners.

Many years later and McGlashan’s Wallington Estate regularly welcomes visitors to their popular cellar door to sample their award-winning wines. Some even stay the night at their luxury eco villas.

“The best thing about being a member…is the camaraderie between the different business owners and the way we all work together.”

Inspired accomodation

McGlashan’s Wallington Estate is part of the Bellarine Taste Trail – bringing food lover’s to the region with its abundance of culinary choice and expertise. More recently, the winery became part of a solution for the shortage of accomodation options in Geelong and The Bellarine.

After attending a Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine event which shared insights into visitor figures for the region, how it was evolving and the shortage of accomodation options, Russell and Jan decided to be part of the solution and construct luxury eco villas on site.

This has been a major win for McGlashan’s but also the region on a whole: encouraging people to stay longer on their visits to truly experience the wonders of the region.
