Tourism Geelong and The Bellarine – CORPORATE WEBSITE

But next season’s planning starts now!

It was the busiest cruise season we’ve had. More than 4,000 passengers came ashore in Geelong and The Bellarine from four supersize ships.

Despite weather and wind forcing the cancellation of a 5th ship late last month, we still saw huge numbers and had excellent feedback from cruise visitors.

As an unexpected bonus, when the Norwegian Jewel couldn’t be accommodated in Geelong, the team was able to quickly arrange its berth at Portarlington. With a big thumbs up from the captain of the ship for the facilities, we now have the opportunity to promote Portarlington as a new cruise destination in partnership with Visit Victoria.

As with all cruise ship visits, a proportion of passengers disembark early in the morning to take pre-organised tours of the region, visiting wineries, heritage sites, gardens and attractions across the region.

Other passengers step off at a more leisurely time and explore the area on foot with help from our visitor information staff and volunteers.

We’d love to hear your feedback on the cruise market for this year so we can better plan for future seasons.
