We had a big night last night.
We celebrated with the state tourism industry last night at Crown Melbourne after our Professional Development program won the Tourism Education and Training category at the Victorian Tourism Awards.
Managed by Industry Development Officer Lakshmi Cashmore, the program aims to help tourism businesses reach their potential through education, training, networking and coordination. With a strong industry focused on continual improvement, our regional visitor economy will continue to grow and flourish.
We’ve had almost 1,500 participants in our training sessions, online seminars and summits. The program would not be a success without the support and active involvement of every Team Tourism member who turns up, listens, learns and implements what they’ve taken in.
Our team also picked up a bronze award in the Visitor Information Services category. Elizabeth Curtain, Josh Harris and their band of 130 volunteers delivered outstanding service to more than 200,000 visitors last year, encouraging them to stay longer, explore further and spend more in the region. The award is well deserved recognition of a terrific service we’re very lucky to have.
